What: HALLOWEEN STORYTIME The Whistler Library presents a Halloween storytime for 3-5 year olds. Libby McKeever from the Whistler Library will tell or read five stories as well as present songs, rhymes, games and a craft centered around All-Hallow’s Eve. Costumes encouraged! And please register at lmckeever@whistlerlibrary.ca.

What: GIANT PUMPKIN WEIGH-OFF The Pemberton Farmers’ Institute presents the annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off at the North Arm Farm. It’s expected that at least one competitor has a pumpkin that weighs 500 pounds!

When: Saturday October 25, weigh-off at 12 p.m.

Where: North Arm Farm, Pemberton

What: AWARE KIDS NATURE CLUB The Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment presents a drop-in session for kids to learn about the environment and Whistler’s natural surroundings. Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

What: WHISTLER ADAPTIVE SPORTS PROGRAM ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING The non-profit Whistler Adaptive Sports Program provides year-round recreational programs for peopel of all ages who have disabilities. They’ll be hosting their AGM this weekend.

When: Sunday October 26, 1 p.m.

What: ARTS, CULTURE AND HERITAGE ALL-CANDIDATES’ MEETING Whistler’s arts community will hold an all-candiates’ meeting for candidates in the upcomign muncipal election.

What: MUNICIPAL ALL-CANDIDATES’ MEETING The Whistler Chamber of Commerce presents an all-candidates’ meeting for people seeking council seats in the upcoming municipal election.

What: INSPIRED LEADERSHIP – WINNING AND ENGAGING THE NEW WORKFORCE The Whistler Chamber of Commerce presents a Spirit luncheon and breakfast featuring Dr. John Izzo, who will help attendants understand the changing expectations of the new workforce. He’s back by popular demand.

When: Wednesday November 5, 11:45 – 2:30 p.m.; Thursday November 6, 7:45 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

What: WERC JOB FAIR The Whistler Chamber of Commerce presents the anual WERC Job Fair. Jobs are first come, first served. Bring at least three copies of your resume. Be ready to have on-the-spot interviews with potential employers.

What: FOODSAFE LEVEL I COURSE This eight-hour course is mandatory for all food handlers, cooks, dishwashers and the like. It’ll focus on food contamination, hazardous foods and dishwashing.

When: Monday November 18, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Where: Whistler Chamber Boardroom

What: REEL ALTERNATIVES SERIES The Whistler Film Festival presents Reel Alternatives, a monthly screening series in advance of the December festival. Coming up next: “Blindness,” a Canadian film about an epidemic of blindness that forces society into chaos. Admission: $12 at the door.
