What: BICYCLES FOR HUMANITY All through October, Bicycles for Humanity is collecting used adult bikes in decent shape along with used bike parts, tools and tires to be shipped to Africa. We've all discarded a lot of bike fragments over the years, donate them to a good cause! Contact brenda@improving-relationships.com for more.

What: FREQUENCY FRIDAYS KosmiK presents Frequency Fridays, this week's instalment is a farewell party for DJ Sonaito, who will be sent off with a Good Deep Tech House Night. Sonaito last performed on September 4 and will be leaving to continue his work as a DJ and ski instructor. Free admission.

What: RUMPELSTILTSKIN Missoula Children's Theatre directs students from Myrtle Philip Community School in a live theatre production of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale. Performance tickets are $10 per family, $5 per adult and $3 per student.

What: GREEN DRINKS Hilltrip and the Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment present the 21st Green drinks, a social networking event for people interested in discussing the state of the environment. Entry by donation and Green Drinkers get a free beer and appies.

What: BEYOND THE BLUES Whistler Mental Health and Addiction Services hosts a Depression Anxiety Education and Screening Day. Come out and learn about depression and anxiety by hearing about people's experiences with both conditions, treatments and how you can help.

When: Thursday October 8, 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

What: CITIZENS ON PATROL INFORMATION MEETING Vandals are on the lam in Pemberton and the RCMP can't be everywhere at once. The Village of Pemberton and the RCMP thus need the community's help to act as eyes and ears within the community. 15 participants minimum needed for project to proceed.

What: GIANT USED BOOK SALE Donations are now being sought for the Giant Used Book Sale, which welcomes all manner of book, whether fiction, non-fiction, adult, children's, soft and hardcover. Donation boxes are located at Nesters Market, Canada Trust, Whistler Public Library and Spring Creek Community School. Call Jane at (604) 932-3665.

What: DIAMOND AND PEARLS GALA Sea to Sky Community Services Society presents the second annual Diamond and Pearls Gala, after last year's event celebrated the Society's 30th anniversary. There'll be a full course meal and appetizers, ticket includes dancing, silent auction, door prizes and complimentary wine. Tickets $100, tables of eight are $700.
