What: SCRABBLE FOR LITERACY TOURNAMENT Celebrate Family Literacy Day by taking part in an annual scrabble tournament at the Whistler Library. It's free to attend, all ages are welcome and there are plenty of prizes to be won. It's sponsored by Friends of the Whistler Public Library.

What: LUNA FULL MOON SNOWSHOE LUNA presents a full moon walk on snowshoes. It includes transportation to and from the Callaghan Valley, a guided trip on the medicine trail and showshoe rentals. A great way to get in touch with nature by taking in an ancient forest. Tickets $10.

What: SAVOUR WHISTLER BOOK SIGNING Celebrate the culinary pleasures that Whistler has to offer by attending a book signing for "Savour Whistler: From Field to Plate." It's a commemorative Olympic cookbook with recipes such as Guinness Pie, Venison Chili and Chocolate Lava Cake.

When: Sunday January 31, 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.

What: WHISTLER TORCH RELAY DAY The flame arrives in town and it's time for Whistler to celebrate. This will be a harbinger of hope or logistical hell. Celebrations in Whistler Village include a performance by Barney Bentall and the Grand Cariboo Opry at the Village Square Apres Stage.

When: Friday, February 5, celebration starts at 3 p.m.

What: PEMBERTON TORCH RELAY DAY Pemberton is hosting a full day party to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic torch. Events throughout the day include photo opportunities with the VANOC mascots, a Polar Bear Swim at One Mile Lake and a no-contact street hockey tournament.

What: PEMBERTON WINTERFEST ARTISAN SHOW The first of several Pemberton Winterfest events that will happen during the Olympics, this will showcase the best that Spud Valley artists have to offer. Other activities to come include an opening celebration, youth video dance and dinner theatre throughout the Games.

When: Friday February 12, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
