What: WAG DOG WASH, BBQ AND BAKE SALE Whistler Animals Galore (WAG) is hosting its annual dog wash, BBQ and bake sale fundraisers. Come with a dirty dog, leave with a clean one! There will be smokin' hot ribs, hamburgers, hotdogs and music. Whistler folk singer Susan Holden will provide the live entertainment. Wash costs $15.

When: Saturday July 10, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

What: WHISTLER'S BIGGEST GARAGE SALE The Rotary Club of Whistler Millennium hosts Whistler's Biggest Garage Sale. To sell your stuff book a table right now, it cost $20, and it's two parking spots wide. You're covered, rain or shine. For more information call Danielle at (604) 698-7465.

What: BALDING FOR DOLLARS Balding for Dollars returns for its eighth annual event in Whistler. It's a community favourite that sees locals shave off their locks to support kids with cancer at BC Children's Hospital. There are prizes for top fundraiser and the sounds of the Rutherford Creek Trio.

When: Saturday July 17, 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

What: INSPIRING EARTH ACTION: WRITERS FOR A CHANGE - CHEEYING HO The Whistler Forum for Leadership and Dialogue presents a discussion with Cheeying Ho, executive director of the Whistler Centre for Sustainability, who will engage in a talk about environmental activist Edward Abbey. $25 for BBQ, $10 for the talk alone.

When: Wednesday July 21, BBQ 6 p.m., talk 7 p.m.

Where: Nita Lake Lodge

 

What: LUNAFLIKS DOUBLE FEATURE LUNAFLIKS presents two late-night screenings at Lost Lake. First up is Pirate Radio, a nostalgic film about rock 'n' roll in the '60s. The second is The Runaways, a rocking biopic starring Kristen Stewart about Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. Free shuttle from gondolas.

What: SIXTH ANNUAL TEDDY BEARS PICNIC The West Coast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish hosts its sixth annual Teddy Bears Picnic. It'll be a fun-filled day with mini train rides, arts and crafts, inflatable toys and more! Don't forget to pack a picnic lunch. It costs $5 per person. RSVP to Lisa or Diane at (604) 815-4144.
