What: National Aboriginal Day - Celebrate the newest addition to Whistler's Olympic Plaza. The Olympic Lightning Figure is a welcome pole carved by Squamish Nation master carver Ray Natraoro (Sesiysm) and Lil'wat Nation carver Delmar Williams (Bankscht). The carving will be blessed in a traditional ceremony conducted by Squamish and Lil'wat community members and Whistler mayor Ken Melamed. After the traditional blessing the celebration will continue at the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre, including an aboriginal art show, regalia fashion show and traditional food and drink - see how salmon was traditionally smoked over hot coals, bake your own bannock on a stick, and sample Xuseum - a traditional soap berry soda, and spend some time in the sun at the summer barbeque featuring salmon and bison burgers. What: Giant plant sale - The annual Whistler Library plant sale fundraiser will have soil, flower bulbs, potted plants, and garden gurus with free advice.

What: Pemberton Valley Trails Association - Support your local trails at the second Annual Pemberton Valley Trails Association (PVTA) fundraiser. Silent auction, raffle and door prizes will be complimented by a beer garden by Whistler Brewing. All proceeds go to the Pemberton Valley Trails Association.

What: Like Classical music? This classical music concert will feature violinist Maddie Reid and pianist Karl Hirzer, who will play selections from Bach, Mozart, Dvorak, and Brahms.  Maddie, who grew up in Whistler, and Karl are music students at the University of Victoria. Admission by donation.

What: Community event coordination-  Do you have a really good event idea? Make it come alive by joining LUNA's Community Event Coordination (CEC) internship program. Once a year, young adults are given the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of event production for free, straight from the pros, and produce their own event at the end.
