What: Improve dinner - The Kitchen Party Improv dinner theatre fundraiser presented by the Howe Sound Women's Centre Society will provide a hilarious night with some of Canada's top improvisors. A buffet dinner inspired by local ingredients will be available as well as a silent auction sponsored by local businesses. Proceeds will go to a new women's drop-in centre in Whistler. What: Bird walk - Nature and bird lovers will love this walk, presided over by bird expert Heather Baines. Walk to Rainbow Park alongside the Valley Trail and see what you can find hiding in the bushes and trees.

When: Saturday, July 2 at 7 a.m.

Where: Meet at the foot of Lorimer Rd.

 

What: Hi's Birthday - HI-Whistler is celebrating its first birthday at its new location in Cheakamus Crossing. Come down and enjoy a free pancake breakfast, face painting for the kids (or anyone who feels like one) and take a tour of this award winning hostel. Prizes to be won.

When: Saturday, July 2 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

What: Get walking - The Whistler Seniors Needs Action Planner (SNAP) is kicking off a weekly walking group. Dust off your running shoes and join others for walks on the Lost Lake gravel trails. www.mywcss.org.

When: Wednesdays starting, July 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Where: Meet at the Whistler Community Service Society building in Spruce Grove

 

What: Fresh Air Film - One of Whistler's most iconic summer events, Lunafliks: Whistler's Fresh Air Films, is celebrating its ninth year. This year LUNA has added a new feature to their signature event - PechaKucha mini - to the lakeside entertainment mix. PechaKucha presentations will start at sundown after the sunset BBQ, after the ambient DJ sets and popcorn, and before the moonlight feature films. Mark your calendars; Lunafliks runs every other Wednesday in July and August - July 6 and 20, and August 3, 17 and 31. www.lunafliks.com.

What: Family Saturdays - Head to the Whistler Museum for a nifty nature walk! Collect fallen leaves and other materials to make your own nature-inspired splatter paint work of art. Will you make a leaf card, pinecone collage, or fern fan?

When: Saturday, July 9 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Whistler Museum's Valley of Dreams Walking Tours will lead you through Whistler Village and paint an incredible picture of the valley's many transformations from a pioneer logging camp, to a remote fishing retreat, fledgling ski area, squatter's paradise, world-renowned destination resort, host of the XXI Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2010, and beyond.
