Torture Your Trainer

Whistler's Innovative Fitness location is giving you a chance to get back at your instructor by hosting a "Torture Your Trainer" fundraiser in support of healthy lifestyles for children.

During the event, taking place Nov. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nita Lake Lodge gym, clients and friends can make a donation for the right to tell their trainer what to do for five minutes. The trainers-for-a-day can come up with creative instructions to dole out during their five minutes that aren't limited to exercise.

All funds raised will go to the 60 Minute Kids' Club, a Canadian initiative encouraging youth to be active and make healthy choices in their diets.

Call 604-966-5700 for more details.

The B.C. Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association is hosting an Open Mike Fundraiser Dinner on Monday, Dec. 2, which will take place from 8 to 11 p.m. at Quattro.

Some of the resort's best musicians will be performing and the dinner will include a silent auction. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased by calling 1-877-905-5540.

Sign-up for all Test races

Registration is now open for 2014 Test of Metal group races in Squamish, with a special deal available that lets riders save on all four events.

Racers can purchase the 4-Pack for $215, which covers the fees for each race of the series at a discount of more than 20 per cent.

In addition to the group's namesake race on June 14, the 4-Pack also includes the Orecrusher (May 10), the Gearjammer (July 19) and Just Another Bike Race (Aug. 16).

All Test of Metal races are now moving over to Webscorer for timing and registration this year. Visit www.testofmetal.com for details on all four races and a link to sign up.
