While the rest of the world is focused on bike riding during Crankworx, the Whistler Off Road Cycling Association is going to shift some attention to the art world.

The organization is holding a fundraising event Aug.14 and 16. The event at the RedBull Viewing Tower in Skiers' Plaza is an exhibition of mountain bike-inspired art. The WORCA Art Worx Fundraiser will feature live art animations, a silent auction and live bike painting.

Artists Baz Carolan and Taka Sudo will be available to "pimp your beater" at the event between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. each of the two days.

Chadsey fourth at Squamish 10K

The annual Squamish Days 10K and Flashback Mile was won on the weekend by Kevin O'Connor from Vancouver. His time of 32 minutes and 40 seconds was three minutes and 10 seconds faster than the women's winning time set by Marilyn Arsenault of Victoria.

The fastest Sea to Sky resident in the race was Marko Toijanen of Squamish with a time of 38:30. Emma Chadsey of Pemberton finished the race in 41:09, the fourth fastest woman in the race. Margreet Dietz of Squamish was 40 seconds behind Chadsey and the fifth fastest female was Caroline Walter of Squamish while Amy Smith of Whistler was just nine seconds behind Walter. Vicki Tonner of Whistler was the 8th female with a time of 43 minutes and 17 seconds.

James Newby of Squamish finished 10th amongst the men in a time of 38 minutes and 50 seconds.

Squamish's Mae Palm, known as Marathon Mae, honoured the people impacted by the Boston Marathon bombing by wearing her blue and yellow Boston Marathon running shorts. She finished first in her age group of runners over the age of 70. Palm worked in Whistler as a reservations agent until her recent retirement. She represented the resort at Ironman and marathon events across North America.

The race on Sunday, Aug. 4 featured a flat course along with a one mile sprint race that featured 18 young runners, one just five years of age.
