Squamish Adventure Centre to receive funding

$900,000 grant to go towards centre, parking and trails

The District of Squamish received a boost of $900,000 this week from a $66 million Community Development initiative that provides up to two-thirds of funding for infrastructure projects around the province. The initiative is funded by the federal government and the provincial Ministry of Small Business and Economic Development.

West Vancouver-Garibaldi MLA Ted Nebbeling presented the grant to the Squamish District on Monday.

"The $900,000 will be used by the district to build a new visitor information centre," he said. "The Sea to Sky Adventure Centre will also include an outdoor recreation and info centre, parking, and a trail network.

"Our region is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and the visitor centre will showcase that to all the tourists that go through it," Nebbeling said.

The District of Squamish made the application through the Canada/B.C. Infrastructure Program and the Western Economic Partnership Agreement.
