Squamish is alive with the Sound of Music

Calling all singing nuns, Nazis, goatherds, governesses and adorable apple-cheeked cherubs:

Squamish Youth Theatre has chosen The Sound of Music, one of the most beloved and well-known musicals of all time for its next production.

The show will run Nov. 25-27 and Dec. 2-4 at the Eagle Eye Theatre in Squamish and will be directed by local impresarios Adriane Polo and Mike Hewitt, with Gord Durocher as musical director.

Kids and adults are needed for singing and non-singing roles. Preliminary auditions will be held Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 7 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Sept. 7 from 7 to 8 p.m. Those auditioning for singing roles may be asked to sing a couple of bars on cue but no advance song preparation is required.

The production also requires backstage crew volunteers.
