A Squamish man was injured last week after his semi-truck and trailer went down an embankment south of Whistler, police said in a release.

At approximately 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, Whistler RCMP were notified of the single-vehicle accident in the 657 block of Highway 99, south of Function Junction.

Investigators have learned that the driver lost control during heavy rainfall while negotiating a corner southbound on Highway 99.

The 80-year-old driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said.
