Squamish RCMP investigating violent death

The Squamish RCMP are looking for information on a fight that resulted in the death of a 44-year-old Squamish man on Sept. 8, at approximately 10 p.m. According to police, they responded to a fight in progress on Second Avenue.

According to police, they responded to a fight in progress on Second Avenue. When they arrived they found the 44-year-old with injuries to his head, neck and stomach area. The man, who was identified as Gary Wray, was transported to Squamish Hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

A 30-year-old Squamish male was located, identified and arrested in connection with the assault, and made his first court appearance in North Vancouver on Sept. 10.

Although it appears to have been an isolated incident, the RCMP are asking anyone that may have seen or heard anything in the area of Second Avenue between 9:30 and 10 p.m. on the night of Sept. 8 to call them.

The RCMP are not releasing the name of the suspect or any more details of the case at this time.

Pemberton RCMP investigate bike store theft

They have their leads, but the Whistler/Pemberton RCMP detachment is still looking for information that leads to the person or persons that broke into the Pemberton Bike Company between Sept. 6 and Sept. 7 and stole several mountain bikes, some mountain bike equipment, and cash. The total amount of the goods and cash stolen is not being disclosed.

The suspects entered through the front door after drilling through the lock, then exited the side door of the building.

The stolen bikes were made by Norco and Giant.

Anyone who witnessed anything in the area between 6 p.m. on Sept. 6 and 10 a.m. on Sept. 7 should contact Constable Young at the Pemberton RCMP, 604-894-6126.
