Whistler Resort TV, channel 2 on Whistler Cable, is launching a new segment on the town of Squamish, the self-proclaimed Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada. The segment, which will start airing in May, will be hosted by Squamish TV personality Tamara Stanners.

The segments will highlight businesses and activities in Squamish to tourists, helping the town to make up some of the ground they lost with the cancellation of the Royal Hudson and B.C. Rail passenger train service.

Stanners, a former Vancouver radio and news anchor, currently hosts Reach for the Top 2003 on the Knowledge Network, and Healthy Home on HGTV. She is also the spokesperson for the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation, and the proprietor of the Eagle Run Coffee Company in Brackendale.

Whistler Resort TV has been on air for a year and a half, and provides resort information like Environment Canada’s weather report, the snow report, road reports, advertisements and segments featuring hosts like Olympic gold medallist Ross Rebagliati and Vancouver Magazine food critic Jamie Maw.
