Nothing gets a sweetheart more into the mood for love, or at least bed, than sensual and passionate Spanish music.

Peruvian beauty Silvana Kane brings her Latin beats and silky grooves to Whistler for Valentine’s Day on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. at MY Millennium Place. She teams up with Adam Popowitz in a band called Pacifica.

“It’s a very sexy, passionate show,” said the Lima native. “What I mean by sexy is sensual. I think women are beautiful beings and it’s okay to be passionate. I think Mother Nature is a big force, so to embody it is a beautiful thing…. Music is about a celebration for people to feel — to have a moment to connect with each other. It’s always a fun show.”

Pacifica sprung from the renewed friendship of Kane and Popowitz. The two friends originally worked apart in different bands: Kane in West End Girls, the opening act for Roxette; Popowitz in Mollies Revenge and YveAdam whose credits include opening for artists such as kd lang, Bryan Adams and Third Eye Blind.

After performing to thousands of club goers in Ibiza, Spain, Kane returned to Vancouver to merge Atlantic with Pacific, a union of Spanish and English in one sound, which ebbs and flows like the ocean that inspired the band’s name.

“It’s not Latin, Hispanic or Flamenco: It’s not easily defined,” Kane explained.

Kane’s words of humanity, sexuality and love have criss-crossed North America many times over. Pacifica’s music was featured on Bravo’s Godiva, Designer Guys and MuchMore Music.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $22.50 for students and seniors.
