Stephen Lewis to speak at women's centre

The Howe Sound Women's Centre (HSWC) is turning 30 in April, and to celebrate its booked Stephen Lewis to speak at its gala celebration. The event is on Apr. 14, 2012 at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park Roundhouse in Squamish.

The Howe Sound Women's Centre (HSWC) is turning 30 in April, and to celebrate its booked Stephen Lewis to speak at its gala celebration.

The event is on Apr. 14, 2012 at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park Roundhouse in Squamish.

A strong advocate for women's rights, Lewis was named "one of the world's most powerful feminists" by Forbes Magazine in 2010, and his foundation helps to raise money to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa. He is a co-founder and co-director of AIDS-free World, and a commissioner on the newly formed Global Commission on HIV and the Law — created by the United Nations Development Program.

Also speaking is Katrina Pacey, a Vancouver-based lawyer. She works extensively with women in the downtown eastside of Vancouver.
