Well my best argument for being a prepper is simple.
When Sandy hit the east coast a few years back.
How well did all the smug know it all's fare with no food or power for up to weeks in some areas?
No way to charge their cell phones, light their homes, or cook their food.
The fire dept. Begging people to stop setting fire to their adornments using candles when they have no clue how to use on.
Hint- if you have a large dog, or kids. Do not just stick a tall romantic taper into a wobbly holder then put it on the coffee table and leave the room.
House on fine in
Yet for preppers, in that same event.
The worst thing is the irritation you go through, trying to keep your neighbors from poisoning themself with bad food. Killing themselves with CO. Our seeing themselves on fire.
Or like on 9/11, calling 911 constantly to report an alien invasion because of all the lights in the sky.

Sadly the people I have met in my life. The ones most likely to die from stupidity in the slightest emergency,
Have a string of letters after their name.
