The Whistler Secondary Senior Boys soccer team is looking better and better after winning the Howe Sound school district title two weeks ago.

Last weekend the team took part in the Logan Lake Lightning Soccer tournament, playing against high school teams from Merritt, Princeton and Logan Lake. The Whistler team won three games in a row to finish undefeated as the tournament champions.

In their first game, the Whistler Storm beat Merritt 3-0, with goals by Kyle Cuthiel, Rory Ewanson and Michael Daugulis. The shutout went to Whistler goaltender Michael Messeguer.

The second game against Logan Lake was tied after regulation time, with the winner being determined by shoot out. Messeguer saved two shots to give Whistler the win.

The final game was against Princeton, and Whistler took that 8-2 with goals from Cuthiel, Ewanson, Peter Skryabin, Steven Romanin, and Tyler Massey.

Cuthiel also won the tournament MVP honours, and Nick Vagelatos accepted the winning trophy on behalf of the team and coaches Bernard Messeguer and Andrée Janyk.

This weekend the team is heading to Ashcroft to play in the Provincial A Soccer Championships.

The team includes Michael Messeguer in goal, Micahel Daugulis, Sacha Filler, Tyler Massey, Peter Skryabin, Chris Smith, Nick Vagelatos, Kyle Cuthiel, Brendan Edgar, Cole Stewart, Jerry McArthur, Ryan Black, Rory Evenson, Steven Romanin, Francois Ligeti, Tom Epplett, and Jeremy Caverly.
