Strong rounds for Sea to Sky Junior Tour

The first two events of the North Shore Credit Union Sea to Sky Junior Tour took place on July 20 and July 26.

The field of golfers is strong this year, but there are still openings for players aged 18 and under, boys and girls, of all ability levels. All participants get a round of golf at a local course, a snack at the ninth hole and the chance to win prizes for a reduced fee.

There are 32 open spots for every stop of the tour, and about half of those spots are still open.

On July 20, the NSCU S2S Junior Tour teed off the season at the Squamish Valley Golf Club. The top score of 72, one over par, went to Matt Powell in the 11 to 14 age category. He was followed by Patrick McEachran and Johann Peterson with scores of 90 and 91.

The 15 to 18 category was won by Stefano Sidonio with an 80, followed by Nick Sandor and Mark McKenzie who tied with rounds of 81. Three golfers finished with 82s – Riley Kufta, Chris Harper and Zed Dhalla.

The second round of the tour took place on Tuesday with perfect conditions at the Whistler Golf Club.

Ethan Fairley won the 11 to 14 category with an 82, followed by Jake Steiner and Alex Sykora with 84 strokes apiece.

Zed Dhalla won the senior 15 to 18 category with a 76, followed by Stafano Sidonio with a 77 and Nick Sandor with an 81.

The third out of five stops is at the Nicklaus North Golf Club on Tuesday, Aug. 2 nd . The last two stops are Big Sky Golf and Country Club on Aug. 9, and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Course on Aug. 15.
