Strong turnout for Sprite Snowcross

After a brief hiatus, the Sprite Park Rider Series returned on Feb. 10 for the first Snowcross event of the season. For the first time since the park series began skiers were invited to participate as well as snowboarders.

Among the event highlights:

In the "girl power" category, Beth Chiasson won the 13 and Under Open snowboard division, defeating 15 other riders – all boys.

Victoria Cole upset skier cross mainstay Cara Dolan in the women’s skier category.

Mike Klinkhamer, 14, took on the 17 and Over women rather than sit this one out due to the lack of competition in his age group.

Daniel Moore, won the men’s skier cross after competing in the X-Games in Aspen Colorado.

At the awards, Thomas Caverly won the Atomic snowboard, Molly Milligan the Nintendo Gamecube, and Jess Bennie the Nintendo 64.
