Students awarded for youth week

In recognition of their contributions to the community, a group of Whistler Secondary students have received special Youth Week Awards.

In recognition of their contributions to the community, a group of Whistler Secondary students have received special Youth Week Awards.

Award winners in athletics are:

Kristin Young – Kristin works with young gymnasts at the Whistler Gymnastics Club.

Tyson Duck – The Storm’s star forward ran a junior basketball development program at Whistler Secondary to encourage young players to participate and develop their skills.

TJ Grabowiecki – TJ helped Tyson run the development program.

Troy McLean – Troy volunteered all season as a Whistler Minor Hockey coach in the initiation program.

Award winners in citizenship include:

Teresa Bate – Teresa has been involved with the Re-use-it Centre, volunteering her time to help out with its day to day needs.

Kathy Rybar and Jennifer Pringle – Kathy and Jennifer implemented the Whistler Secondary School Web page and spearheaded the yearbook.

Youth week was observed across the province May 5-11, with communities holding youth forums and supporting athletic and citizenship contributions to the community.
