Sunny days ahead for Sidesixtyseven

If you’re underage you’re not going to be able to catch the Sidesixtyseven show at the Boot Pub on Sunday night.

Who: Sidesixtyseven with Another Damn Disappointment and Mandown

What: The Punk Night

Where: Boot Pub

When: Sunday, July 11

But there’s a good chance you’ll see them in the skatepark during the day along with their tourmates from Sacramento, the band Another Damn Disappointment.

"We’re taking all Sunday off," says bass player Sean Colig. "The ADD guys like to skate so we’ll show them the park, probably bring the Hibachi and barbecue. We always do that. We take advantage of the sunny days."

They’ll go from park to pub with a Punk Night show at their favourite venue.

There are more sunny days ahead for the band. This Tuesday, July 13 at UBC’s Thunderbird Stadium marks the first of five Canadian Warped Tour shows, where they’ll share the Volcom stage with bands like Guttermouth.

Truth at Persuader Premiere

What: The Guatemalan Persuader

Where: Garibaldi Lift Co. (GLC)

When: Monday, July 12

Tickets: $7

Local hard rockers Truth Be Told have been scarce since the end of their regular Friday night gig at Dusty’s last winter.

But fear not. Truth is back with a show at the GLC this Monday. The band plays the premiere party for the Nick Mercon-produced ski film The Guatemalan Persuader .

Who knows what the enigmatic title means; the box cover suggests B-Grade horror.

But with a cast that features the likes of Chris Turpin, Tanner Hall, Evan Rapps, Skogan Sprang, CR Johnson, Iannick B, Glen Plake, and Jay Quinlan for starters, who even cares?

Monday Madness goes metal

Who: The Crowley Band

Where: Boot Pub

When: Monday, July 12

Mondays at the Boot Pub usually mean groovy jams.

This Monday, the pub goes metal with a show by the local boys from the Crowley Band.

The five-piece band will draw from its arsenal of classic covers by Priest, Sabbath, Danzig and others as well as its growing bag of original material from their long awaited CD.
