Gillett to buy Targhee George Gillett’s Booth Creek Holdings continues to pile up ski resorts, agreeing in principle to the purchase of all outstanding stock of the Grand Targhee resort in Wyoming just before the new year. The acquisition will bring Booth Creek Holdings’ ski properties to 10 after the company purchased four small ski areas in Washington state in mid-December. Booth Creek already owns Mount Cranmore and Waterville Valley in New Hampshire, Sierra-at-Tahoe, Northstar-at-Tahoe and Bear Valley in California. SkiNet Report says Moritz O. Bergmeyer and Carol Mann Bergmeyer, current owners of Grand Targhee, have agreed to sell all outstanding stock to Booth Creek. Grand Targhee is a 2,400 acre ski area, with 2,200 feet of vertical, approximately 40 miles from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The area, known for its powder, was ranked 36th in Snow Country’s annual resort survey this fall. According to SkiNet, the area has been in search of a buyer in recent years, and various plans for expansion have languished because of the current owners' lean wallets.
