Ultimate still looking for players

The Whistler Ultimate League is inviting anyone and everyone to take part in their next drop-in night on Tuesday, June 3 at Whistler Secondary. No experience is necessary, as members of the league will be on hand to teach players the rules of the game and some of the skills required, like throwing and catching disks, covering players, and executing plays. The only equipment required is turf cleats.

The drop-in nights run from 6 p.m. onwards on Tuesday nights, and memberships in the club through the summer and fall are $20. It’s informal, and teams will change each week, but organizers do plan to bring back a full league in the future. In the meantime, the league will recruit the strongest players from drop-in to play for Whistler at tournaments through the summer.

This is the 10 th season for Whistler Ultimate.

Outdoor volleyball team registration next week

The cost of registering for about 12 weeks of volleyball is $200 per team, which includes a high performance volleyball donated by league sponsor Sport Stop.

Other trail events planned include a walk of Green Lake Loop on Saturday at 9 a.m., again meeting at Riverside Junction Café. The following week, June 7, WORCA is recruiting volunteers to help restore Cat Scratch Fever.
