A Vancouver teen has been arrested in connection with the non-fatal stabbing of another male while in Whistler on May 17, police said.
The 17-year-old male was arrested for aggravated assault in Surrey on Monday, June 15, linking him to the May long weekend incident.
The suspect, who, as a minor cannot be named, appeared in court Monday, and remains in custody awaiting his next court date of June 18.
Whistler RCMP previously told Pique the attack stemmed from an altercation on Whistler Way in the early hours of May 17.
"That incident was in relation to a dispute between two groups," said Staff Sgt. Steve LeClair last month. "They had some common associates, so this wasn't a random attack."
The groups reportedly ventured to a relatively secluded area of the village in order to fight away from the heavy police presence common on the long weekend, LeClair noted at the time. That's when the victim, a 19-year-old Surrey man, was stabbed multiple times, police said.
The incident came less than 24 hours after the stabbing death of 19-year-old Burnaby man Luka Gordic, leading to increased calls for answers to Whistler's typically rowdy May long weekend.
