Teen faces second-degree murder charge

Squamish 16-year-old killed

The 19-year-old, who was captured after a 13-hour manhunt Wednesday, has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a Squamish teen.

Ander Walker-Huria was charged Thursday and scheduled to appear in a North Vancouver court.

He was the subject of a corridor-wide police search after a small get-together Tuesday night escalated into the stabbing death of 16-year-old Sam Eves in the Squamish neighbourhood of Valleycliffe.

Eves, a Grade 11 student at Howe Sound Secondary, was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital, where he died.

Walker-Huria is known to police in Ontario. He had been in B.C. just a few weeks.
