The second annual exchange program with teens from Whistler's sister city Karuizawa, Japan, is in the planning stages.

There are spots open for up to 10 teens, between 14 and 17 years old.

The kids will be billeted in pairs with Japanese families during their week-long stay there.

"They really roll out the red carpet. Everyone is well looked after and has a great time!" said Jane Milner, former chair of the Sister City Advisory Group.

Whistler's sister city is located about one hour away from Tokyo by bullet train. It is one of Japan's most popular resorts, during the summer, with over 8 million visitors each year.

Last month 10 Karuizawa teens were in Whistler. By all accounts both from the young visitors and the host families, the exchange was a success.

Kathy Podborski will accompany the Whistler kids to Japan in July. For more information there will be a meeting at Whistler Secondary school on April 25 at 11:15 a.m. Or call Kathy Podborski at 604-932-2541.
