The Tangerine Dream celebrates filmmaking company’s 10 years

What: Tangerine Dream

Where: MY Millennium Place

When: Friday, Nov. 4, 7:30 & 9:30 p.m.

From the back of a beat-up orange-coloured pickup truck came the dream of shuttling skiers and snowboarders around to wherever they needed to go to make a film. Now, 10 years, later Jackson’s Teton Gravity Research (TGR) filmmaking team is paying tribute to the survival of The Dream by entitling their 10 th anniversary film after their faithful clunker, The Tangerine Dream.

The film premiers Friday, Nov. 4 with two showings, at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. at MY Millennium Place.

"They’ve been doing it for so many years, they really put out a professional product," said promoter Jamie Bond of Dog Lotion Promotions.

"They shoot everything on 16 mm film rather than hand-held digital cam. The cinematography is incredible: lots of heli cams and birds-eye views. It makes for an action-packed film and great movie to watch."

The rusty-orange story heralds back to TGR’s beginnings of outlaw athletes and ragged, ski-bum lifestyles, which grew into a 10-year rowdy road trip through out-of-the-way and legendary mountains in India, Turkey, Switzerland, France, Colorado, Utah, Montana, California and TGR’s home, Jackson Hole.

The around-the-world ski/snowboard film will showcase four local snow stars, Dana Flahr, Ryan Oakden, Victoria Jealouse and the young Kye Petersen, currently a student at Whistler Secondary School.

Whistler favourites will be joined by mountain troubadours Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Jeremy Jones, Chris Collins and Micah Black.

Dog Lotion hosts the film’s after party at the Longhorn Saloon with giveaways, raffles and more.

Tickets for the film are $10 and are available through Ticketmaster or MY Millennium Place. Doors open half an hour before show time. Call 604-935-8410 for tickets.
