A caroling gift-wrapped Uber hit the streets of Vancouver over the holidays to spread a little cheer about the ride-hailing company's coming arrival.

Vancouverites are still waiting for Uber to officially launch, despite a pledge from Premier John Horgan earlier in the year that ride hailing would be available by Christmas.

Uber is ready to start operations as soon as licences are approved from the Passenger Transportation Board.

"For years, British Columbians have been clear that they want access to the same safe, affordable, reliable service they've used all over the world. We're optimistic that Uber will be here for the busy holiday season," Michael van Hemmen, Uber's head of Western Canada operations and public affairs, said in a statement earlier this year.

To keep spirits high, the ride-hailing company sent out an email on Dec. 28 stating "Uber is coming soon to Vancouver."

"It's the holiday season, and the best gift of all is on its way," the email stated.

Along with the message of hope, the company attached a comical video of a bright red Uber and cheery crew driving around Vancouver and stopping to sing carols with a spin, which were actually pretty catchy.

One went like this: "Standing in the snow, oh no, wait, that's rain — Wait it might be snow, no, no, no it's rain. Ha, ha, ha, now you're soaking wet and you need a ride. Guess you're out of luck, oh wait, your Uber has arrived!"
