The Bums are back in town

Ski Bums, the acclaimed Whistler-based documentary examining the hardcore pow-hound counterculture is screening at MY Place on Friday, Nov. 19.

What: Ski Bums

Where: MY (Millennium) Place

When: Friday, Nov. 19

Tickets: $2-$4

The film was produced by veteran director John Zaritsky and local legend Johnny Thrash with funding support from the National Film Board, and kicked off the first Whistler Film Festival in 2001. Ski Bums offers a local’s eye view of Whistler so it’s appropriate the screening has been included in the Whistler Welcome Week lineup.

Friday’s event is an initiative of LUNA – a Whistler Community Services program offering alternatives to the bar and night club scene for young adults. The dinner and a movie "LUNA Lounge" event begins at 6 p.m. in the downstairs youth centre at MY Place. Admission is $2 with a LUNA membership card, $4 without.
