Vancouver Sun gardening columnist Steve Whysall will be presenting a talk and slideshow at the Chateau Whistler this Saturday, May 18 at 5 p.m.
Titled Great Gardens, Great Plants, Whysall’s presentation addresses the joys and challenges of gardening.
Whysall’s talk is being presented by the Whistler Garden Group, which has several workshops and presentations scheduled for the gardening season.
Born in 1950 in Nottingham, England, Whysall worked as a reporter for various newspapers, including The London Evening News, before coming to Canada in 1975. For the last 10 years he has been the garden columnist for The Vancouver Sun.
He is also the author of three books, 100 Best Plants For Coastal Gardens, 100 Best Plants for Ontario gardens, and The Blooming Great Gardening Book.
In his spare time, he tends his own English-style cottage garden.
Tickets are $7 and will be sold at the door.
The Whistler Garden Group’s program for 2002 also includes workshops on making willow furniture, a Madhatters Tea Party and plant swap, a walk in the woods with local forester Don MacLaurin, a tour of local gardens, a sketching and watercolour workshop, a photography workshop and a tour of a herb farm.
