VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL MOUNTAIN FILM FESTIVAL. The fourth annual festival of film, photography and lectures takes place Feb. 16-25 at various locations in the Lower Mainland. Information: 604-87V-IMFF or www.vimff.org

SUN SALUTE-ATHON . A Sun Salute is a series of moves co-ordinated with the breath that is used as the initial warm-up in almost all forms of yoga. This is a fund-raiser for the Whistler Community Services Society, which operates the food bank, crisis line, Kidsport, home visit volunteers, peer counselling programs and more. Pick up a pledge sheet and salute Feb. 24, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Chateau Whistler, Macdonald Ballroom A.

GLOBAL AWARENESS BENEFIT DINNER . Mama School in Guadalajara, Mexico and a project in Guyana are the beneficiaries. Come out for an evening of South American cuisine, entertainment and a silent auction, Friday, March 2 6:30-9 p.m. at Howe Sound secondary’s multipurpose room. Tickets available from Mostly Books, Goffinet Refinishing, Howe Sound secondary library, Brackendale secondary and Garibaldi Highlands elementary school.

WHISTLER GYMNASTICS CLUB . Is hosting two special events. On Saturday, March 3 is the Club Meet for PreKip, Kip, Rebounder and Acronaut athletes, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Lunchtime concession will be available. Wednesday, March 7 is Junior Ribbon Day for the Highflyers, Classics, and Springer athletes, between 3 and 6 p.m. A snack concession will be available. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer for either day please call 932-4445.

U-HF (UNHEARD FREQUENCY) EVENT SERIES . March 4 and April 1, Christian bands/food and bevies. 7 p.m. at the Whistler Racquet and Golf Resort, 4500 Northlands Boulevard. Experience U-HF=Freedom. Sponsored by Whistler Community Church. Call 938-6295 for information.

MEETINGS/WORKSHOPS

FEBRUARY IS HEART MONTH. Volunteers for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. will be canvassing door-to-door during February. All volunteers will have the familiar red and white foundation logo on buttons, information kits and tax receipts.

FIRESIDE CHAT WITH STEVE PODBORSKI. The first in a series of chats regarding the Vancouver-Whistler 2010 Olympic bid will be held Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in the bid corporation’s new community office, next to the Whistler Museum.

REDUCING THE STRESSES OF RAISING TEENAGERS. Brenda Montani, a therapist, school counsellor and mother of two young adults invites parents of teenagers to be part of a free workshop. Receive and share tips that decrease the potential for conflict and enhance the parent-teen relationships. Workshop is Feb. 28, 7-9 p.m. at Whistler Secondary. Pre-registration required.
