SUMMER SOLSTICE.

A festival of world music presented by Tourism Whistler, June 16-17. Ticketed and free concerts.

GRAND OPENING OF MILLENNIUM PLACE.

ALTA LAKE FISHING DERBY.

Hosted by the Whistler Angling Club, derby headquarters are at Lakeside Park. Derby starts at 9 a.m. on June 17. Proceeds go toward local lake and stream enhancement projects.

CHAKRA’S.

Farfalla Hair and Body Spa’s third annual fund-raising hair and fashion show will be June 18 at AlpenRock. Proceeds to Camp Moomba, for children living with HIV/AIDS.

CANADA DAY PARADE.

Sunday July 1. With more events and a different route, it promises to be bigger and better than ever. The Reynolds High School Marching band from Victoria will be participating as will RCMP officer decked in red serge. All welcome. The more the merrier.

WHISTLER ARTS EXPERIENCE.

A week-long celebration of the arts July 2-7, including Artrageous on July 6.

UNITED CHURCH GARAGE SALE.

A multi-driveway event. Saturday, June 16 at 7474 Ambassador Crescent, White Gold from 10 a.m-3 p.m. Fabulous bargains promised.

DADS CLIMB FREE.

For the sixth year Great Wall Climbing Adventures will open its wall at the base of Blackcomb and to mark the occasion dads are being offered free climbs on the Father’s Day weekend.

The Whistler Community Services Society is looking for new blood to stand for election at the Annual General Meeting Wednesday, June 20 at 6 p.m. at Myrtle Philip community school. All welcome.

HELPING HANDS

WHISTLER FISHERIES STEWARDSHIP GROUP —

is planning a series of volunteer action days this summer to restore and enhance fish habitat around the Whistler Valley. Volunteers donate a few hours of their time and learn much about Whistler’s aquatic ecosystem and the animals that depend on them. This is a great chance to participate in the conservation of Whistler’s natural environment. For more information call Lisa or Veronica at 935-8323.

MEGA GARAGE SALE

Help Whistler’s bears by donating your "gently-used junk" for Whistler’s Mega Garage Sale to be held July 1. Proceeds go toward education programs designed to protect Whistler’s bears. donations can be dropped off at RCMP offices during business hours. For more information, contact Sylvia at 905-4209.

PEMBERTON MEADOWS MUSIC FESTIVAL.

INTRODUCTION TO NORTHWEST COAST NATIVE ART.

An informative lecture enhancing understanding of the art and culture of the Northwest Coast First People. Approximately 30 minutes long, Mondays at 2 p.m. and Thursdays at 6 p.m., Black Tusk Gallery on Main Street, 905-5540. All are welcome.

WHISTLER ANIMALS GALORE.

WAG is now a registered charitable organization and can issue tax receipts for gifts and donations made.

MY YOUTH CENTRE.

Opening soon. Activities will include hangin’ out, ping pong, pool table, Playstation, Nintendo, Internet access, big screen projection TV, day and overnight trips and tons of other activities. Needed are donations of videos, games, Playstation and Nintendo games and any other "cool" stuff. Smaller items can be dropped off at the Millennium Place front office or at Simon’s Hut in the High School. For information call 935-8378.
