OFFICIAL INAUGURAL VILLAGE CHURCH SERVICE IN MY PLACE. We invite you to attend this very special worship service 9 a.m. Sunday, June 24 in the Franz Wilhelmsen Hall, 4335 Blackcomb Way.

BLACK BEAR SLIDE SHOW SERIES. Spring black bears: Population peaks is the subject of this month’s slide show, presented by black bear researcher Michael Allen. Slide show is Thursday, June 28 at 7 p.m. at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Tickets (at the door) are $10 for adults and $5 for children, with proceeds going to support black bear research and education in the Whistler area.

WHISTLER’S MEGA GARAGE SALE. July 1 at the RCMP detachment. Come early and enjoy a pancake breakfast for the bears at 8 a.m. Garage sale starts at 9 a.m. Raffle, barbecue lunch and bear safety information. Proceeds help protect bears through the J.J. Whistler Bear Society and creating a better understanding of bears. Donations to the sale can be dropped off at RCMP offices during business hours. For more information, contact Sylvia at 905-4209.

CANADA DAY PARADE. Sunday July 1. With more events and a different route, it promises to be bigger and better than ever. The Reynolds High School Marching band from Victoria will be participating as will RCMP officers decked out in red serge. All welcome. The more the merrier.

WHISTLER ARTS EXPERIENCE. A week-long celebration of the arts July 2-7, including Artrageous on July 6.


LAKE PLACID ROAD UPGRADE. The municipality is holding an open house on Tuesday, June 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. to share project information. The open house takes place in council chambers at municipal hall.

WOMEN OF WHISTLER MEETING. On Tuesday, June 26 at 6 p.m. the Women of Whistler will meet at Bavaria Restaurant, 4369 Main Street. Appetizers will be served and the meeting provides an opportunity to meet other women in Whistler to exchange ideas, make new friends and contacts. Guest speaker will be local extreme adventure competitor Chloe Lanthier, who will speak about her adventure preparation and belief in her abilities. CASCADIA MAYORS MEETING. Mayors from Oregon to Whistler will be meeting in Whistler June 29 for semi-annual discussions on issues that affect the Cascadia region.
