WHISTLER’S MEGA GARAGE SALE. July 1 at the RCMP detachment. Come early and enjoy a pancake breakfast for the bears at 8 a.m. Garage sale starts at 9 a.m. Raffle, barbecue lunch and bear safety information. Proceeds help protect bears through the J.J. Whistler Bear Society and creating a better understanding of bears. Donations to the sale can be dropped off at RCMP offices during business hours. For more information, contact Sylvia at 905-4209.

CANADA DAY PARADE. Sunday July 1, 2 p.m., Whistler Village. With more events and a different route, it promises to be bigger and better than ever. The Reynolds High School Marching band from Victoria will be participating as will RCMP officers decked out in red serge. All welcome. The more the merrier. Cake at 3:45 p.m. in front of Le Chamois. Fireworks 10 p.m. in the village.

UPPER VILLAGE FARMERS’ MARKET. The July 1, Canada Day edition of the weekly Farmers’ Market includes farm-fresh produce, cheese, honey, preserves, crafts, furniture and jewelry. The Upper Village Farmers’ Market runs each Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., between the Chateau Whistler and the Glacier Lodge.

WORCA YOUTH DIRT CAMPS. Free to all WORCA members, the July 4 camp includes mountain biking etiquette, the "ride don’t slide" theory, and great mountain bike technique. Pick up registration forms at the next Loonie race. Sign on forms will be available at the Glacier Shop at 9 a.m. Call the WORCA hotline, 938-9893, for more information.

WHISTLER ARTS EXPERIENCE. A week-long celebration of the arts July 2-7, including workshops, free outdoor programs, dinner with artist Mike Svob July 5 and Artrageous on July 6. For workshop inquiries and registration call the Whistler Community Arts Council at 938-0498.

PEMBERTON & DISTRICT HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT. The health care foundation’s sixth annual charity golf tournament goes July 6 at noon at the Pemberton Valley Golf and Country Club. Sponsored by Cardinal Concrete, this is the foundation’s only fund-raiser of the year. The foundation provides grants to the Pemberton Health Centre for equipment, renovations, educational scholarships and health care programs not funded by tax dollars. Golfers and hole sponsors are needed. Call Bruce MacFayden at 894-6021 or contact the Pemberton Golf and Country Club, Pemberton Health Care Centre or foundation members.

ART ON THE LAKE. The second in a once-a-month series of days showcasing local artists at the Whistler Outdoor Experience grounds near the Edgewater Lodge. July 8 the featured artist is Natural Furniture builder Jo Collins. Drop by between 1 and 5 p.m.
