WHISTLER FISHTIVAL.

The municipality, B.C. Forest Service, Whistler Fisheries Stewardship Group, Rotary Club and Angling Club of Whistler are combining B.C. Rivers Day with Arbor Day on Sept. 29 and 30. From 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 29 volunteers are invited to gather at River of Golden Dreams and Lorimer Road to help the trees and fish. On Sept. 30 at the Whistler Outdoor Experience Company at Edgewater there will be a canoe scavenger hunt, barbecue and open house introducing the river of Golden Dreams Watershed Management Plan, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

RIVER OF GOLDEN DREAMS MANAGEMENT PLAN.

An open house will be held Sunday, Sept. 30 at The Edgewater Outdoor Centre, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Held in conjunction with B.C. Rivers Day, the idea is to share the draft plan with the community. Feedback is welcome.

HARVEST FESTIVAL FARMERS’ MARKET.

Sunday, Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. next to the Fairmont Chateau Whistler. Locally-grown produce as well as crafts, preserves and baking from area artists and artisans.

FIRESIDE SING-A-LONG AND MARSHMALLOW ROAST.

Whistler Singers is looking for new members. Audition us and eat our marshmallows, then think about joining the Whistler Singers Community Choir. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Tyrol Lodge, 5302 Alta Lake Road (look for the balloons.

JEWISH HOLIDAY CELEBRATION.

All are welcome to come and celebrate the holiday of Sukkot with the Jewish Community of Whistler on Friday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. at MY Place. Festivities will consist of a short service and story, decorating of the Sukkah, and a pot-luck dinner. WHISTLER MOUNTAIN SKI CLUB SWAP.

The annual ski swap takes place over the Thanksgiving weekend, Oct. 5-7, at the Blackcomb daylodge.

BIG BROTHERS/BIG SISTERS DUCK RACE

. Thanksgiving Day, Monday, Oct. 8. The annual fund-raiser for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Whistler and Pemberton takes place on Fitzsimmons Creek. All funds go to support the agency’s programs and matches. Tickets are for sale every weekend on the Fitzsimmons Creek bridge, and during regular business hours from Windermere Sea to Sky Realty, the North Shore Credit Union and Scotiabank in Pemberton.

KINDERGARTEN IMMUNIZATION.

Coast Garibaldi Health reminds parents that children are now due for kindergarten booster immunization against diptheriea, pertussis, tetanus and polio. As well, any home-schooled children between the ages of 4 and 6 or children attending Alta Lake, Waldorf or Montessori schools this fall should make an appointment for this booster.
