ALTA LAKE SCHOOL BOTTLE DRIVE. Time to clean out the empties before winter. The Alta Lake School bottle drive fund-raiser will be Sunday, Oct. 21 at the Nesters Bottle Depot.

MUSEUM FUND - RAISER . The Whistler Museum and Archives will be holding a fund-raising event at the Dubh Linn Gate on Thursday, Oct. 25. The evening includes a buffet dinner, a pint, entertainment and entry into a raffle. Tickets are $20, available at the museum.

RENEWABLE ENERGY-THE RIGHT CHOICE . Dr. Donald Aitken, a world-renowned expert in renewable energy, is the first in a series of speakers presented by early adopters of the Natural Step, Oct. 25, at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Resort. An open house, where a recent energy audit of Whistler will be presented, starts at 6:30 p.m. Aitken’s presentation is at 7:30 p.m. The Leadership Through Sustainable Innovation speaker series continues through March, 2002.

A FINE AND PLEASANT MISERY . The humour of Patrick F. McManus is featured in this one-man, two-act play of adolescent fears. At Maurice Young Millennium Place Oct. 26, 8 p.m. Reception at 7:30 p.m.

VANCOUVER SKI AND SNOWBOARD SWAP . The 36 th annual edition of the swap has moved dates and location. The swap has been moved to B.C. Place Stadium, and will be held Oct. 26-28. Admission is by donation, with proceeds going to support junior racing and snow sport programs in British Columbia.


POLITICAL DISCUSSION. Whistler’s only municipal political party meets at Gone Bakery every three weeks. Next meeting is Oct. 24, 7 p.m. for information contact Chris Childs at 604-938-6318, ext. 222.

SCREENING MAMMOGRAPHY. The mobile screening mammography program is coming to the Pemberton Health Centre Nov. 5-6 and the Whistler Health Care Centre Nov. 7-9. Call 1-800-663-9203 to book an appointment or for further information.

FLU VACCINE. Coast Garibaldi Health Unit is offering free flu vaccine to all residents over 65, health care workers, emergency responders and anyone else with chronic medical conditions. Clinics will be held in Pemberton: Oct. 31, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Coast Garibaldi Health; Nov. 1, 1-3 p.m. at the Lions Villa; Nov. 6, 9-10 a.m. at Coast Garibaldi Health (by appointment).
