WHISTLER FILM FESTIVAL. Thirteen feature films are presented over five days, Nov. 14-18, at the Whistler Conference Centre. Included are the premier of the NFB film Ski Bums, shot in Whistler, and Moving Pictures; Canadian Films on Tour, a festival within the festival.

CINDERELLA . The Whistler Players present a Cinderella Pantomime, complete with Whistler references. This comedy troupe of children and adults put their best foot forward with song and script as they present the classic fairy tale of wicked stepsisters and charming Prince you-know-who. THE MAGIC FLUTE . The Alta Lake School presents Vancouver Opera’s touring ensemble production of The Magic Flute Nov. 18, 2 p.m. at Maurice Young Millennium Place.

SWINGSONIQ . Contemporary jazz-swing trio from Winnipeg plays at St. David’s United Church in Pemberton Nov. 18.

RETURN OF THE SALMON FESTIVAL . Celebrate nature’s renewing cycle and the far-reaching natural mystery of spawning salmon at the Sunwolf Outdoor Centre in Squamish Nov. 18, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Salmon barbecue, bonfire, rain-proof entertainment and activities.

SPIRIT DAY . Annual showcase of Whistler businesses in the Whistler Conference Centre Nov. 21, 2:30-6:30 p.m.

TRIBUTE TO HOAGIE CARMICHAEL . The Juno Award-winning Joe Sealy Trio performs a tribute to Hoagie Carmichael at Maurice Young Millennium Place, Nov. 23.

FESTIVAL OF CANADIAN ARTS . Three evenings of festival performances will take place at the Eagle Eye Community Theatre in Squamish, Nov. 23-25. Included among the performers are Marie Carlson West of Whistler and singer Ali Milner.

BIZARRE BAZAAR . The annual showcase of local arts, crafts and goods takes place Nov. 24, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Whistler Conference Centre. Great Christmas shopping.

FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS . The Association of Whistler Realtors’ annual gala dinner, dance and auction, raising funds for local charities. Nov. 24 at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler.

EXTREMELY CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING . Coming to Pemberton Dec. 8, at 7:30 p.m., it’s Season’s Beatings. A Battle Royale, a grudge match, a young lions match, and the always popular women’s match are some of the highlights. The National Wrestling Association event, at the Pemberton Community Centre, is a fund-raiser for the Pemberton Youth Centre.


FLU VACCINE. Coast Garibaldi Health Unit is offering free flu vaccine to all residents over 65, health care workers, emergency responders and anyone else with chronic medical conditions.
