WORLD FREESTYLE. The best freestyle skiers are in Whistler Jan. 25-27 for the final World Cup competition before the Salt Lake Olympics. Big Air demonstration Jan. 25 at 7 p.m., dual moguls on Davies Dervish Jan. 26, aerials at JJ’s Jump Jan. 27.

BURNT TONGUE & IT’S ME, ONLY BETTER. Comedy comes to Maurice Young Millennium Place Jan. 25. Shannan Culcutt plays Izzy, a charming clown who wears a wedding dress in case she meets the man of her dreams. In Burnt Tongue her blind date doesn’t show. In It’s Me, Only Better the life jacket is the tip-off things aren’t going any better.

TELUS MOBILITY WINTER CLASSIC. The 10 th anniversary Whistler-Blackcomb Foundation fund-raising event includes a wine and cheese reception Jan. 25 at the Westin Resort and Spa. CHATEAU WHISTLER LOPPET. Annual cross-country ski race takes place in Lost Lake Park Jan. 27.

FAMILY LITERACY DAY. The Whistler Public Library will have displays, informational brochures and a Family Story Time (at 10:30 a.m.) on Sunday, Jan. 27.

LOUIS’ PLACE. Louis Potvin, whose career included time in the RCAF, selling Canadian electronics to Latin America, installing radiotelephones up and down the B.C. coast and founding Mountain FM, will be telling anecdotes from his biography Louis’ Place at the Pemberton Public Library Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.


WHISTLER COUNCIL MEETINGS. After a brief rest over Christmas the gears of municipal hall are grinding steadily forward. Everyone’s invited to get together two Mondays in a row, Jan. 28 and Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. to find out what’s weighing on the minds of Whistler’s civic leaders and legislators.

COMPREHENSIVE SUSTAINABILITY PLAN. Four consultants shortlisted to design Whistler’s Comprehensive Sustainability Plan will present their cases Feb. 2, 2-6:30 p.m. at the conference centre. Each consultant will have 45 minutes, followed by a 15-minute question and answer session. Audience members are invited to provide their input by filling out a survey questionnaire.

BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT GROUP. For people recovering from or coping with the effects of brain injury. Meeting, on Feb. 13, will be facilitated by occupational therapist Chris Moore. Call Donna at 604-902-0063 for details.
