Victoria-based storyteller performs at Myrtle Philip Community Centre Sunday, March 3 at 4 p.m. Children ages 5 and up and their caregivers are welcome. Admission is by donation.

A ventriloquist and a magician come to Millennium Place March 3 for an afternoon of magic and an evening of comedy, at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.

Sensitive, sexy, soulful sounds from del Junco on the blues harmonica, with Don Ross on guitar. At Millennium Place March 8 at 8 p.m.

WHISTLER PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY EXHIBITION.

Work by several renowned local photographers, including Eric Berger, Dano Pendygrasse and Greg Griffith, will be at Millennium Place March 10-April 2. Opening reception March 10 from 5 to 8 p.m.

 

MEETINGS/WORKSHOPS

WHISTLER COUNCIL MEETING.

The machinations of local government, at municipal hall March 4, at 7 p.m.

PEMBERTON & DISTRICT HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION AGM.

The foundation will hold its annual general meeting on Monday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the board room at the Pemberton Health Centre. The 2001 financial statements will be presented, election of board members and planning for the 2002 golf tournament. New members are welcome and needed. MYRTLE PHILIP PAC MEETING.

Regularly scheduled meeting moved to Tuesday, March 5, 7 p.m. at Myrtle Philip school. This will be the last PAC meeting before the school board’s March 13 meeting where the school boundary decision will be made. Any group wishing to make a presentation to the school board regarding this matter should contact the school board offices and request to be put on the agenda.

AWARE SLIDE SHOW.

AWARE’s Wilderness Backyard Committee is hosting the Lillooet Rainshadow Wilderness show March 7, 7 p.m. at the Delta Whistler Resort’s Cheakamus Room. Slide shows and speakers from the Sierra Club of B.C., the Southern Chilcotin Wilderness Society, the Bridge River Society and more. All welcome. Call 604-932-4457 for information.

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING.

The Howe Sound School Board will hold its monthly meeting in Whistler on Wednesday, March 13. The boundary for the new Spring Creek elementary school will be decided at the meeting.

WHISTLER NORDIC YOUTH PROGRAM.

Mondays from Jan. 14 to March 8 the Whistler Nordic Cross-country Club is running a youth club program for kids age 12 and up. The program runs from 5 to 7 p.m. each Monday at Lost lake Park. Contact Michelle Crowe at 604-932-4447 for information.

ZERO CEILING SEEKING DONATIONS.

Zero Ceiling Society of Canada, a non-profit society, seeks donations to one of their youth programs. They are looking for four snowboards, sizes 152,158, and two boards at 161; Four pairs of boots in sizes 25, two pair at 28, and one pair of size 29; four sets of bindings. Now open at Maurice Young Millennium Place. Activities include ping pong, pool table, Playstation, Nintendo, Internet access, big screen projection TV, day and overnight trips and tons of other activities.
