The Mount Currie Sculpture Gallery hosts a pre-renovation open house March 9 and 10, from 2 to 8 p.m.

The Whistler Writers’ Group is hosting a reading at BBK’s Pub Sunday, March 10 at 9 p.m. Local writers will share their work and the mic will be open to anyone with a story, poem, song etc. Actors, writers, singers and anyone with ears is welcome.

WHISTLER PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY EXHIBITION.

Work by several renowned local photographers, including Eric Berger, Dano Pendygrasse and Greg Griffith, will be at Millennium Place March 10-April 2. Opening reception March 10 from 5 to 8 p.m.

PONTIAC GMC CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

The best ski racers in Canada compete for national titles in downhill, super G, GS and slalom, March 11-20.

CAST FUND-RAISER.

The Chateau Whistler hosts this fund-raising event for the Canadian Alpine Ski Team March 14.

DINING OUT FOR LIFE.

On March 14, participating restaurants will donate 25 per cent of food bills that day to two AIDS-related charities, Friends For Life and A Loving Spoonful. Participating Whistler restaurants include Araxi’s, Bavaria, BBK’s Pub, Chef Bernard’s, Kypriaki Norte, La Rúa and Quattro.

GALA CONCERT.

All the medal winners, scholarship recipients and community choirs participating in the Howe Sound Music Festival (March 3-14) will appear in the Gala Concert Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the north gym of Howe Sound secondary school in Squamish.

MEETINGS/WORKSHOPS

SCHOOL BOARD MEETING.

The Howe Sound School Board will hold its monthly meeting in Whistler on Wednesday, March 13. The boundary for the new Spring Creek elementary school will be decided at the meeting.

WHISTLER COUNCIL MEETING.

Join the group at the back of the room, who are all running for council in November, at the next meeting Monday, March 18, 7 p.m. at municipal hall.

WHISTLER MINOR BASEBALL ASSOCIATION AGM.

FRIENDS OF WHISTLER PUBLIC LIBRARY.

Annual general meeting is April 3, 7:45 p.m. at the library. The purpose of this meeting is to elect a new executive. This group will undertake fund-raising events to contribute to the operating budget of the library.
