The Alta Lake School is hosting the second annual May Fair on Saturday, May 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the base of Blackcomb. Bring the whole family for an afternoon of children’s crafts, may pole dancing, storytelling, puppet shows, food and fun. Rain or shine.

GYMKHANA

Pemberton Valley Riding Club’s first of the season gets underway May 11 at 11 a.m. Barrels, pole-bending, keyhole, scurries, flag, quads, stake race and a jackpot.

WHISTLER PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY

The society is looking for photographers to exhibit in the upcoming Jazz and Blues festival photo exhibition. The show will run June 14-16 in the Cinnamon Bear Lounge in conjunction with Tourism Whistler's Jazz and Blues festival. The exhibition is open to all members of the Whistler Photographic Society, both amateur and professional. Each photographer is asked to submit two images of music or musicians. The first practice and ball registration takes place at Signal Hill Elementary, May 13, 3:15-4:15 p.m. for T-ball and at the Pemberton Recreation Centre 5-6:30 p.m. for 7-13 year olds. The cost is $10 per child or $25 per family. Practices and games will be Mondays and Wednesdays. The association is also looking for coaches.

HELPING HANDS

WHISTLER FISHERIES STEWARDSHIP GROUP

The WFSG is a non-profit charitable organization whose purpose is to restore the health of Whistler’s watersheds to their utmost potential for people and fish through community partnerships, advocacy, education, and projects. The WFSG will be hosting volunteer activity sessions throughout the summer where people can help out and learn about stream restoration, streamside planting, fish monitoring and other stewardship activities.
