The Whistler Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with local businesses, host Discovery Day June 1. Activities, entertainment, community displays, music and in-store deals throughout the valley.

MADHATTERS TEA PARTY

The Whistler Garden Group is having a plant swap and Spring Bonnet contest at Gay Cluer's home at 5658 Alta Lake Road, June 2, 2:30-5 p.m. Bring a twoonie for the "growth fund" and sandwiches, cakes or cookies to share.

CLEAN AIR DAY

All Whistler residents and visitors are encouraged to get involved individually and "challenge" friends, family and co-workers to leave the car at home on Wednesday, June 5, all day. This is part of the Clean Air Week across the country from June 3-7.

JAIL N' BAIL

Whistler-Blackcomb is rounding up various locals and throwing them in jail - the GLC. See them beg for their freedom and take part in the silent auction.

There will be food, drink and music. Tickets are $10. For those who can't make it, tickets are $5 each or three for $10 and the chance to enter a draw to win a 2002/2003 Season Pass. For tickets or more info call 604-938-7394.

SPRING FLAIR

Whistler Parks and Recreations proudly presents a day of activity booths, food concession and community performances at the Spruce Grove Park on Saturday, June 8, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. $5 admission. Children's entertainer ALLEYOOP will be on stage for two performances at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are $12.50, which includes admission to the fair.

WHISTLER FISHERIES STEWARDSHIP GROUP

The WFSG is a non-profit charitable organization whose purpose is to restore the health of Whistler’s watersheds to their utmost potential for people and fish through community partnerships, advocacy, education, and projects. The WFSG will be hosting volunteer activity sessions throughout the summer where people can help out and learn about stream restoration, streamside planting, fish monitoring and other stewardship activities. WHISTLER ANGLING CLUB DERBY

WAC is hosting its second annual Alta Lake Fathers Day Fishing Derby. The event will be run from Lakeside Park on Sunday, June 16. Pre-registration is at Whistler Flyfishing, 103-4338 Main Street.

SEA TO SKY LRMP PROJECT UPDATE

Hosted by the Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management, the meetings are to inform the public about the progress of the area's LRMP. At the Pemberton Community Centre (Rooms 111-112) on Tuesday, June 18 and Myrtle Philip Community School gymnasium on Wednesday, June 19. An open house session will run from 5-7 p.m. and a formal meeting from 7-9:30 p.m.

WHISTLER SKATING CLUB AGM

BEAR SMART PRESENTATIONS

Every Wednesday beginning June 12th at 7:30 p.m. at Millennium Place. Presentations will focus on various aspects of bear biology & ecology, bear behaviour, living with bears in your backyard and safety in bear country. On June 19th, we are featuring a special presentation by Dan ‘The Bear Man’ LeGrandeur, a long time wildlife manager who will share his bag of tricks for living with bears in your backyard.
