WAG DOGGY WASH >>

Bring your dog by the Whistler Fire Hall Sunday, Aug. 25, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., for a shampoo and rinse. Proceeds from the doggy wash go to WAG.

GRIZZLY & BLACK BEAR PRESENTATION>>

Stephen Herrero, renowned grizzly and black bear biologist from the University of Alberta, will speak at Millennium Place on Wednesday, Aug. 28. This is a joint presentation with the Whistler Naturalists and the JJ Whistler Bear Society. Herrero is the first speaker in a monthly series for the Whistler Naturalists during the 2002-2003 season.

CREEKSIDE STREET FESTIVAL>>

The first annual festival celebrating life in the Creekside with children’s activities and performances, live street entertainment, a beer garden and lots more. The festival takes place on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. STRUT YOUR STUFF>>

The annual registration and information fair for community recreation programs takes place Sept. 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Whistler Secondary school. Organized by KidSport Whistler, the fair is a chance to meet coaches, parks and recreation centre staff, trade-in small equipment and clothing, watch displays and pick up application forms for KidSport grants.

2002 TERRY FOX RUN>>

The 5 and 10 km run/walk takes place on Sunday September 15 at a new Whistler location, Riverside Campground. Registration is at 9 a.m. and start is at 10 a.m. A family even for all with a BBQ, live music and face painting. All proceeds go to cancer research. Many volunteers required. THE BIG BANK THEORY>>

Sea to Sky entertainment has postponed the shooting of the Big Bank Theory, a locally produced feature film. Instead of shooting it in three to four parts over the summer/fall, it is now scheduled to shoot in one continuous flow from Sept. 3 to Sept. 15. For more info contact Adriane Polo at 604-898-5930.

ALTA LAKE SCHOOL REGISTRATION

The Alta Lake School is holding an open house and registration day Saturday, Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Spruce Grove Park.
