The 4 th annual epic 12 km run at One Mile Lake in Pemberton on Sun. Oct. 20, registration at 9 a.m,, race starts at 10 a.m. Race entry fee is $15 with proceeds going to the Pemberton Jackrabbits Nordic Ski Club. Contact Jeanetter Helmer at 604-894-6618 for further information.

MASQUERADE BALL>>

Don your masks and come out to the Delta Whistler Resort Hotel for a Hallowe’en Masquerade Ball fundraiser on Sat. Oct. 26, 8 p.m.-1 a.m. $30 per person including appetizers and dessert. All proceeds go to the Whistler Library-Museum Capital Campaign.

ALTA LAKE SCHOOL OPENING>>

The teachers, parents and students of the Alta Lake School welcome the community of Whistler to join us in celebrating the opening of our new school. Come and learn about Waldorf education and why it’s the fastest growing independent school movement worldwide. Storytelling, crafts, sing-a-long fun for the kids. Ribbon cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on Sat. Oct. 26 from 1-3:30 p.m. Rain or shine.

RETURN OF THE SALMON FESTIVAL, SQUAMISH>>

This year’s Squamish festival runs from Sat. Oct. 12 to Sun. Nov. 3. The goal is to hoist 150 hand painted windsocks from Squamish Station down to the estuary. All community members can paint a windsock to welcome the salmon back to Squamish. Call Nikki at 604-898-4860 for more info on windsock painting workshops.

WHISTLER-BLACKCOMB OPEN HOUSE>>

The Senior Leadership Team at W-B will be holding an open house between 1-5 p.m. on Sat. Oct. 12 for locals, passholders and the public. Information and displays will feature various aspects of the mountain operation including slope improvements, parking, environmental initiatives, proposed mountain venues for the Olympics and other topics. The Open House will be located at the Whistler Kids area of the Blackcomb Administration Building.
