TODD BUTLER AT MY PLACE>>

The Whistler Arts Council presents satirical songwriter Todd Butler’s funny and creative brand of social commentary on Friday Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. at Millennium Place. His shows are part stand-up comedy, part musical journey. Tickets at MY Place or call 604-935-8418.

PEMBERTON FATHER-DAUGHTER DANCE>>

There will be music, dancing, raffle prices and games at the girls and their dads at the 4 annual Father-Daughter dance. Tickets are $20 per father-daughter couple or $25 per family at PaperWorks and Mystery Closet in Pemberton. The dance takes place on Nov. 2 at Signal Hill Elementary School from 7-11 p.m.

RETURN OF THE SALMON FESTIVAL, SQUAMISH>>

This year’s Squamish festival runs from Sat. Oct. 12 to Sun. Nov. 3. The goal is to hoist 150 hand painted windsocks from Squamish Station down to the estuary. All community members can paint a windsock to welcome the salmon back to Squamish. Call Nikki at 604-898-4860 for more info on windsock painting workshops.

Whistler’s food and wine celebration will take place from Nov. 6 to 10 offering food and wine seminars, winemaker dinners and special events. For more information and tickets call 604-938-2769.

IN THE SHADOW OF THE HIMALAYAS>>

Telling the story of Nepal’s mountain porters through photos, film, stories and music. Admission free, $10 donation for raffle. Prizes include Patagonia gear, funky T-shirts and other stuff. All proceeds benefit Porters, Progrerss of Nepal. In Whistler at the Brewhouse at 7:30 and 9 p.m. on Nov. 7. Also in Squamish at the Howe Sound Brewing Co., at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11.

The Whistler Chamber of Commerce is putting on its annual job fair at Dusty’s on Nov. 13 starting at 9 a.m. Bring three copies of your resume. First come first serve. For more info contact Iona at 604-932-6281.

WHISTLER MUSUEM & ARCHIVES SOCIETY DINNER>>

Raise some Celtic cheer at a museum dinner at the Dubh Linn Gate on Thurs. Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and include: a new fall buffet dinner, a glass of beer, door prizes, a silent auction, a paper bag raffle and Irish pub entertainment. For tickets call the museum at 604-932-2019 or purchase from Museum Board Members. The funds raised will go towards the museum’s operating costs.
