WHISTLER FILM FESTIVAL>>

The second annual film festival showcases films in the categories of adventure, culture, and mountains. It also features a dynamic series of digital filmmaking workshops, filmmaker panels and appearances and an exhibit of mountain culture photography. The events run at the Rainbow Theatre or at MY Place from Dec. 5-8.

CHILDREN’S SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR>>

Children’s books for sale at the Whistler Children Centre on Nesters Road from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 amd from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS FAIR>>

Enjoy the magic of the Christmas season at the third annual Children’s Christmas Fair at the Alta Lake School (at the Spruce Grove Park) and the neighbouring Spruce Grove Field House on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be craft making, storytelling and an outdoor BBQ.

6 th ANNUAL MOUNTAINEERS’ SOIREE>>

Join Canadian Alpinist Barry Blanchard and his show, Among the Greater Ranges, at Myrtle Philip School on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. Bid on gear, mountain art, books, guided trips and more at a silent auction to support the Brian Ebert Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Jim Haberl Hut Project. Tickets are $8 in advance at Escape Route or $10 at the door.

SANTA IN PEMBERTON>>

Santa will be at the Pemberton Museum on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hot dogs, juice, marshmallow roast. Bring your camera.

WHISTLER WRITERS GROUP>>

This fall’s second literary leanings event will be held at Behind the Grind Café on Sunday Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Local writers will read from recent works and the floor is open to anyone with a story, poem, or burning idea.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA>>

Breakfast and pictures with Santa from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Pemberton Secondary School. Tickets will be sold at the door for $4 for children (12 and under) and $5 for adults.

MEETINGS/WORKSHOPS

PAC MEETING>>

The monthly Parents Advisory Council meeting is at 7 p.m. at Myrtle Philip School on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

SUSTAINABILITY AND THE GAMES>>

David Chernushenko, IOC Sport and Environment Commission Member, will share his thoughts on sustainability opportunities and challenges presented by staging an Olympic Games at 7 p.m. at the Delta Whistler Village Suites on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
