LOST LAKE SHUFFLE>>

A four-hour cross enduro country ski event around Lost Lake on Saturday, Jan. 18. Do it solo or in teams of three. Last year the winning skier shuffled 75 km in four hours. Proceeds go to the Whistler Jackrabbit program.

SKI FEST>>

Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, free demos and lessons from the pros sweets and hot drinks and lots more at Ski Fest on Sunday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The theme of the day is free! There’s something for everyone from beginners to experts. Meet at the Lost Lake Warming Hut.

WOMEN’S SELF-DEFENSE CLASS>>

Join Master Dawn Lefebvre, a former national Canadian champion in Taekwondo and a 5 th degree black belt, for a women’s self-defense class on Monday, Jan. 20 from 6-9 p.m. at Myrtle Philip School. There’s a $30 fee. It’s for women only and it’s a beginners class.

LATE NIGHT BAR ALTERNATIVE>>

Once a month Whistler Community Services and Bylaw host a late night, bar alternative event for young adults in the corridor. On Thursday, Jan. 23 the "I’ve always wanted to do that" night will take place. Come down to Spruce Grove Field House from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. for free activities such as snowshoeing, hip-hop classes, yoga and backcountry awareness classes. MEETINGS

INDEPENDENT SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP SESSION>>

There will be an information session about an ambitious scholarship program for St. George’s School in Vancouver, an independent school for boys. The school will be offering free tuition, boarding and all extras to talented boys in Grades 6-12, both nationally and internationally. The information session will be held at MY Place on Friday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m.

AWARE AGM>>

Come see AWARE’S first guest speaker of 2003 – Joe Foy of the Western Canada Wilderness Committee. Everyone is welcome to attend the AGM on Sunday, Jan. 19 at the Delta Whistler Resort. AWARE Open House from 6-7 p.m. Speakers and slideshow from 8-9:30 p.m. and Board of Directors elections from 8:30-9 p.m. Find out how to get involved in keeping Whistler healthy and beautiful.

BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT GROUP MEETING>>
