GREASE>>

The second student dance performance to the hit songs from the classic musical at MY Place will take place on June 5, 6, and 7 at 7:30 p.m. More than 70 dancers will take the stage over the night. Tickets range from $5 to $9.75.

GLASSHEAD and BLINDED>>

Two melodic punk rock bands will blast the basement of MY Place for a teen targeted show (that’s 13 to 18 year olds only) on Fri. June 6 from 7:30-11 p.m. Tix are $5 in advance, $6 at the door. Munchies and drinks are available.

WHISTLER BIRD WALK>>

Guided by friendly locals this bird walk will begin on Sat. June 7 at 7 a.m. at the bottom of Lorimer Rd, by the entrance to the Catholic Church. Everyone is welcome, especially novices. Bring binoculars and a field guide.

STRONG GIRL – WISE WOMAN>>

This seminar is for young women in grades 5, 6 and 7 who have questions about body image. Mothers welcome, $30 mother/daughter combo, $18 for individuals. Presented by Nancy Routley, counsellor and consultant and Tracy Higgs, nutritional consultant practitioner. This will be a confidential course aimed at improving body image and discussing preventative methods for disordered eating on Sun. June 8 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Whistler Youth Centre in MY Place.

REPLANT LUPIN WALK>>

The Whistler Garden Club is looking for volunteers to help replant the Lupin Walk – that stretch of the Valley Trail between Village Gate Boulevard and Lorimer Road – on Tues. June 10th any time between 2 p.m. and dark. Bring a chopstick and a plastic container to hold the seeds. Event will be re-scheduled in the event of rain. ALTA LAKE SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE>>

The Alta Lake School is hosting an Open House and Pre-school/Kindergarden registration day on Fri. June 20 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Children and parents welcome! Refreshments will be served.

DRIVING BUSINESS THROUGH YOUR EMPLOYEES>>

Kirby Brown, director of employee experience for Whistler-Blackcomb, will address the Tues. June 10 Women of Whistler meeting at 6:30 p.m. He will present current trends in human resource management, along with some of the ideas used at Whistler-Blackcomb. Cost is $25 and attendees must reserve a spot through the Chamber of Commerce at 604-932-5922.

DIALOGUE CAFES>>

A new speaker series called Dialogue Cafes gets underway this month. The first event, featuring Brent Leigh of the Chamber of Commerce, will take place at the Learning Hub, 4230 Gateway Drive on Sun. June 8 at 7:30 p.m. The second meeting is at Blendz’s Coffee Shop on Wed. June 11 at 7:30 p.m. where Dave Walron, sustainability advisor at the RMOW, will kick off the discussion.
