WHISTLER FIRE RESCUE CUP>>

Firefighers are raising money for the BC Burn Fund with a 10-team hockey tournament at the Meadow Park Sports Centre. The tournament kicks off with Whistler Fire Rescue playing Delta Fire on Fri. April 2 at 1 p.m. Finals on Sun. April 4 at 11:30 a.m. There will be a beer garden, raffle, puck toss, T-shirt sales etc, to raise money. Call 604-984-1154 for info.

Discover spring in Pemberton during the 9 kms wilderness run on the shores of Mosquito Lake on Sun. April 4 at 10 a.m. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Entry fee is $15. Meet at the "4-corners" at Reid Rd. and Ivey Lake Rd.

HANSEL AND GRETEL OPERA>>

The Alta Lake School is bringing the story of Hansel and Gretel to MY Place on Sun. April 4 at 2 p.m. The Vancouver Operatic Society production of the Grimms’ tale will be a specially adapted for young children. Tix are $9.99 for children, $15 for adults. Call 604-935-8418.

The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds will be playing at the Eagle Eye Theatre in Squamish on April 7, 8 and 10. Tickets are available at Billie’s Bouquet, Eagle Run Coffee Company and at the door. The play is also coming to Whistler at the end of April.

SUMO WRESTLING>>

The next Late and Unique Nighttime Alternative involves padded foam sumo suit and sushi. That’s right! There’s sumo wrestling at Spruce Grove Field House on Thurs. April 8 from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tix are $2 at the Whistler Employment Resource Centre and a free shuttle will leave from the taxi loop from 7:45 - 8:45 p.m. and back.
