The third stop of the Callaway Sea to Sky Junior Tour belonged to 17-year-old Brian Thom. Playing at his home course, the Squamish Valley Golf Club, Thom shot a three-under par 69 to win the day, as well as the 15 to 18 age division.

Twenty-three Sea to Sky juniors took part in the tournament on July 17, with the top 13 posting gross scores of 90 or under.

Although the weather threatened to make a harder game of it, the rain held off for the junior players.

Four years and four strokes behind Thom was Squamish golfer Kevin Spooner, 13, who posted a one-over par 73 to win the 9 to 14 age group.

Third place was a tie between Fraser McGlennan, 15, and Scott Sellers, 17, of Squamish, with rounds of 74.

Mike Heenan, 15, posted a round of 75 to finish fourth; Matt Hunter, 15 shot a 76 to finish fifth; and Jordan Koren, 15, Gordon Yakura, 15, and Ashley Hogg, 17, tied for sixth with round of 78. Hogg was the top girl in the tournament, although she was followed closely by Dominique Pytlewski, 14, in seventh with a 79.

Spencer Craig, 16, was eighth with his 80, which meant an amazing 11 junior golfers finished with gross scores of 80 or lower.

Scores in the low 80s are not bad either. Gred Landry, 14, shot an 81, and Marcel Pytlewski, 16, shot an 82 to finish ninth and 10th respectively.

Mike Rose, 13, won the both the closest to the pin and the longest drive competitions for the 14 and under age group in his round of 88.

Matt Hunter won the 15-and-older closest to the pin award, and Spencer Craig won the over-15 longest drive competition.

All competitors were given a snack at the ninth and a post-round dinner and awards ceremony at the clubhouse.

The next stop for the tour is at the Chateau Whistler Golf Course on July 31. To register, contact Pat Miller at Nicklaus North. The entry fee includes green fees, snacks, the dinner and the awards.
